I Spent Hours At The Tailor And Thousands Of Dollars Trying To Make Work Pants Fit My 5'2" Frame.
So I Made My Own Solution.
Written by Marissa
Founder of VertiPetite
For over a decade, I spent more on tailoring my work pants than I did on the trousers themselves and wasted countless hours at the tailors. Every pair I owned needed shortening, taking in, or hemming before I could wear them. I assumed this was just the cost of being 5'2". It turns out, it didn't have to be.
1. All Of The Pants I Tried Sent Me Straight to the Tailor, Even The Petite Ones
For years, every pair of work pants I bought came with a second bill from the tailors. Even the so-called "petite" ranges still pooled at the ankle. I'd lost count of how many tailors I'd been to before I turned 30.
2. Then I Realised Petite Women Were an Afterthought for Every Brand
The penny dropped one afternoon: this wasn't a me problem. It was an industry problem. Every brand was sizing for women 5'5" and up, then slapping a "petite" label on a single shorter inseam and calling it a day. A 4'10" woman and a 5'4" woman were picking from the exact same trouser. No wonder nothing fit.
3. So I Built Pants That Petite Women Don't Need to Tailor
I spent months researching fabrics, sizing data, and inseam lengths. The result was VertiPetite: trousers with four petite-only inseams (24", 26", 28", 30"), built so the inseam stays the same when you size up.
4. Wearing VertiPetite, I Realised What Trousers Were Supposed to Feel Like
The first time I put them on, I didn't reach for a safety pin, a tailor's card, or a pair of heels to make them work. They just fit. The hem hit exactly where it was meant to, the waistband sat where it was meant to, and for the first time in my career, I walked into a meeting without thinking about my trousers at all.
5. Now Petite Women All Over Are Making The Switch
What started as my own frustration has become a wardrobe staple for thousands of petite women. It gives me so much joy to read that Verti Petite makes them look and feel their best every single day and that finally a pant brand exists for short, powerful women.
